Houston (Platts)--12 Jan 2018 545 pm EST/2245 GMT

The PJM Interconnection has issued a cold weather alert for Sunday across its footprint.

The alert calls for transmission and generation dispatchers to review plans to determine is any maintenance or testing, scheduled or being performed on any monitoring, control or transmission/generation equipment can be deferred or canceled.

PJM West Hub on-peak weekend traded in the mid-$60s/MWh on Intercontinental Exchange and was bid at $75/MWh and offered at $87/MWh around 1:30 pm CST Friday.

Peakload was forecast to increase more than 19% by Sunday to around 119,400 MW, according to the grid operator.

High temperatures across the PJM footprint were expected from 15 to 35 degrees, as much as 23 degrees below seasonal norms, according to CustomWeather.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory through Saturday morning as a strong cold front will push across the region and drop temperatures 20 degrees in hours.
